What do you think philosophy is about? Does it have value? Why? Why is it put under religion and other such things in topic areas for forums? Is it not what scientists do as part of their methodology?

Philosophy is about revaluing, so it is not a question of whether it has value, as that is itself a philosophical question.
Philosophy is never common sense, it is a highly nuanced way of thinking that is often contradictory and paradoxical. People like certainty and philosophy never really guarantees that, which is why it is probably relegated.
There is of course a philosophy of science, Karl Popper established the falsification method, which came from philosophical inquiry.
The Philosophy of Mind is perhaps the most important philosophy, along with philosophy of language. Politics is all philosophy and so is religion.
