Many Eastern philosophies, largely of Buddhist origin, suggest an all-encompassing oneness as the higher power of reality. This is not to say we are separate from this, as we are inseparable from all else that determines our universe, but in trusting existence itself, we have faith, and it is easy for the human mind to assign a subject of this faith. But having faith in the oneness that is our reality is having faith in ourselves just as much as the happenings we perceive to be separate from ourselves. As humanity evolved, I see it possible religion was born, rooted in this fundamental feeling of sodality, but influenced heavily by other aspects of human personality, such as imaginative tales and reflective analyses.
